There are six main types of quests in the world. Quests can be more than one type:
Combat – Quests in which the main goal of the quest is battle, or the majority of the quest’s goals are accomplished by killing things. A single fight or two rarely makes a mission Combat.
Recovery/Rescue – Quest in which the main goal is to find and bring back someone or something, whether it is alive or dead, stealing or stealing back.
Diplomatic – Quests in which the main goal is to gain or break alliances, improve attitudes, or other actions requiring the finer points of talking to people in positions of power.
Investigation – Quests in which the main goal is to explain an event. Looking into disappearances or strange occurrences are the most common.
Excavation – Quests where the goal is to go to a location, and steal all the shit at that location in particular. Most often a dungeon. Can also be robbing houses. We don’t judge.
Intel – Quests where the goal is information. Whether it is finding an old lost library, finding out the secret weapon of an enemy group, or just finding proof that a nobleman is cheating on his wife.
War – Mostly diplomatic and combat missions, War missions involve open combat with large numbers of people.
Boss – Any quest with a very highly ranked enemy or event. Not all ‘bosses’ are combatants. Some are shrewd negotiators, powerful noblemen, or ancient curses.
Resource and Trade- Mostly Diplomatic, Intel, or Excavations, these missions uncover sources of trade goods or strategic resources that can be of great value to the group, or establish connections with other factions to supply such luxuries.
Exploration – Any quest that involves exploring uncharted territories, including exploring various things FOUND amongst those uncharted territories.
Zoological – Any quest that involves rare animal species or exceptional members of a particular species.
Cleansing – Any quest that involves killing tainted and dark sources of power.
Interrogation – Any quest where the solution is found through torture.
Treasure Hunt – Any quest where you start with an idea of what kind of monetary wealth or ancient location you are looking for, then find it and loot it. Different from Expeditions in that expeditions can just be found and started.
Recruitment – Any quest where you recruit an ally or seal an alliance.
Provings – Any quest where the goal is to prove yourself to someone or something.
Lore – Any quest that reveals a great deal of information about the world and those within it of great significance. Lord Blackwater’s affair does not matter.
Crafting – Experience can be gained, albeit at lower amounts over long periods of time, through crafting. It is considered a safer way to gain experience, so seldom do people ‘level’ but great craftsmen can still be created through raw practice.
Assassinations – Usually solo contracts where the goal is to kill a particular person.
